Personally identifiable information
Stand.earth collects personally identifiable information, including names, email addresses, mailing addresses, and/or phone numbers, from Users when they voluntarily provide such information to us, such as when a User completes a letter to be sent to Carnival, or when a User submits a report or complaint to Stand.earth about Carnvial.
How Stand.earth Uses the Information that It Collects
Stand.earth uses Users’ personal information for the purpose for which the Users provided the information, for example, to send a letter to Carnival or to review your report. In addition, if you provide Stand.earth with your email address (other than as part of a “Report an Incident” submission), Stand.earth will add you to its email list. We use that list to keep people informed of environmental-related issues that we think may be of interest to them. If at any time you wish to stop receiving communications from Stand.earth, please follow the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of any email Stand.earth sends you, or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask to be removed from Stand.earth’s distribution list. If you provide Stand.earth with your cell phone number, you consent to receive autodialed and/or prerecorded messages at that number on any subject from Stand.earth.
How Stand.earth Protects User Information
Stand.earth adopts appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to help protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, but Stand.earth cannot guarantee (as unfortunately no organization can in the modern environment) that your information is 100% secure. In addition, please recognize that email is not a secure method of communication, so you should not include sensitive information in any email you send to us.
Sharing Personal Information
Stand.earth uses third party service providers to help it operate the Website or administer activities on the Website. Stand.earth may share User information with these third parties for those limited purposes but such third parties are required to protect the confidentiality of your information and use it for no other purpose.
If you submit a letter to Carnival via our Website or sign a petition on our Website, Stand.earth may share your personal information (e.g., name, address, comments, etc.) with others, including Carnival, the Government and the media.
If you submit a report through the “Report an Incident” page, Stand.earth will not share your personal information with any third party, other than as provided herein, without permission from the User.
If you make a donation through the Website, Stand.earth will not share your credit card information with any third party, other as provided herein.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, Stand.earth will share personally identifiable information about Users when required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and federal laws or to respond to a court order, subpoena, or search warrant. Morever, Stand.earth may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personally identifiable information regarding Users with third parties.
